Bea Setton was born in Paris to Franco-British parents. Her two novels, Berlin and Plaything, have been critically acclaimed in the New York Times, The Guardian, The Washington Post, the Financial Times, and The Times Literary Supplement, among others. 

Setton is interested in philosophy and enjoys reading a good coming-of-age story or thriller. Her favourite writers include Sylvia Plath, Patricia Highsmith, Donna Tartt, Ottessa Moshfegh, Daphne Du Maurier, Brandon Taylor, Naguib Mahfouz, Philip Pullman, Frank O’Hara, and Orhan Pamuk. When not reading Setton can be found playing soccer, watching the Sopranos, listening to some old Kanye, or sitting on the floor drinking tea, as seen on the right.
